Peace For Who?

11.09.2008

By Che Mureed Baloch

It is not a much of surprise when the Pakistan government has present a peaceful solution to Baluch. What is surprising the Baluch have toned down their activities to accommodate the Pakistan peace proposal? On part of the Pakistan it is the right thing to do, logistically speaking Pakistan’s armed forces are stretch to their limits, Pakistan military strategist have realised they cannot carry a simultaneous war with Baluchistan and NFWP.

It is only feasible to offer a peace proposal to Baluch or Puktoon. The peace proposal with Puktoon only lasted few weeks; the army is betting the peace proposal with Baluch will be a longer affair. The army has gone out of its way to ignore the Baluch armed issue in order for the proposal to succeed. Army will engage the Baluch in peace discussion until they have enough time to resolve the NWFP uprising.

The Army will buy time by engaging the Baluch in a discussion of self-determination for Baluchistan. The discussion will first be on what % of revenue Baluch will get from Baluch wealth, later this discussion will pursue to full economic right. While these discussions are in process, millions of dollars will be given to Baluch leader to develop Baluchistan (school, hospitals, re-house the displaced).

The leaders will not held accountable as to how they spend the money.. However, there will be no discussion on the break-up of the Army infrastructure. Once the army has control the NWFP situation the army will then put new proposal on the table, proposals which will not be acceptable to BLA, BRA and BLF. On a false pretext the army will way is sixth major offensive in the region to resolve the Baluchistan issue for good.

The army will then deploy the full 400,000 troops in Baluchistan. At the same time the reconstruction of Gwader and other region colonization will begin.
