FC check-post attacked in Dera Bugti

03.01.2006

QUETTA: Tension mounted in Dera Bugti as sporadic incidents of violence were reported from different parts of the district on Monday.

District officials said some unknown armed men attacked a Frontier Corps (FC) check-post in Loti area. The attackers fired several rockets at the camp, however, no loss of life was reported.

Dera Bugti DCO Samad Lasi said the FC retaliated to the firing forcing the assailants to flee. He added that several rockets landed in and around the check-post. In another incident, the FC personnel fired a number of rockets at three vehicles loaded with arms and ammunition that were being supplied to the miscreants. The FC personnel attempted to intercept the vehicles but the drivers took away the vehicles.

Meanwhile, reports reaching here from district Bolan say unknown armed men tried to blow up power pylons by explosive material in Bibi Nani area. The Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) spokesman said that some unknown armed men planted high power explosive material near the poles of 132 KV main transmission line that exploded with a big bang. However, the poles were not damaged and power supply remained undisturbed. The spokesman said that a team of Qesco was dispatched to the site to estimate the losses and added that the repair work would be started soon.
