QUETTA, Sept 29: Hundreds of prisoners, who had taken over the control of Central Jail Mach, ended their siege on Saturday night after the jail authorities assured that their demands would be met and problems solved.
Sources said that the prisoners had freed 30 people, including eight jail wardens, held hostage by them for 13 hours. Earlier in the day, the prisoners protesting against body and barracks searches set ablaze a training centre and some rooms inside the jail.
Personnel of Frontier Corps, Anti-Terrorist Force and police were called in to control the situation. They fired tear gas shells inside the jail to disperse the prisoners and fired blank shots in the air.
