Baloch demand the release of arrested residents

02.10.2007

QUETTA, Oct 1: Leaders of the National Party, Balochistan National Party (Mengal) and Pukhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party have demanded release of the arrested residents of Killi Ismail area and end to harassment of political workers and raids on their homes.

Speaking at a rally outside the press club on Monday, Mir Hasil Bizenjo, Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, Rauf Lala, Akhtar Hussain Lango Razzak Lango and Wahid Baloch condemned what they called the government’s unlawful acts against the citizens.

They alleged that the security forces had arrested the people in violation of the law and fundamental rights guaranteed in the Constitution and regretted that they had not been produced in court as required by law.

They said the government after failing to suppress the political movement in Dera Bugti and Kohlu by using the state apparatus had now diverted its operation towards the cities.

They said that hundreds of people, including Nawab Akbar Bugti, had been killed or injured in the military operation. Yet, the government had not succeeded in forcing the people of Balochistan to give up their struggle.

They said the army rulers had attempted through military operations to subdue the voice of people but the patriotic forces led by real political parties had defeated the anti-democratic forces.

They announced that the struggle against the government would continue till the constitutional, political and democratic rights were granted to the oppressed provinces.
