QUETTA: A Baloch journalist and his colleague went missing in Khuzdar district in the early hours of Friday, as his friends held intelligence agencies responsible for his sudden disappearance. Sources said Javed Lehri, 24, a journalist working with Quetta-based Daily Azadi, and his friend Ibrahim Baloch were allegedly picked up by some intelligence personnel while returning home in the Wadh tehsil of Khuzdar district.
It was learnt that besides journalism, Lehri, a third year bachelors student, was also an active member of the Baloch Students Organisation (BSO). Akbar Mengal, a leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), condemned Lehri’s ‘sudden disappearance’. He feared that the journalist would be put in a detention center like “thousands of other Balochs presently languishing in state torture cells”.
