QUETTA: Dera Bugti and Kohlu areas remained tense during Eid days where at least three gas pipelines and two electricity pylons were blown up besides unconfirmed reports of clashes and rockets firing in two districts. Mari tribesmen and BSO activists said that they performed the Sunah but did not celebrate the Eid.
A 26 inches diameter gas pipeline between Pirkoh and Sui and second pipeline of 24 inches diameter between Zain Koh and Sui were blown up with explosive material, police said on first day of Eid in Dera Bugti district. Police constables said that an 8 inches diameter pipeline was blown in Sui effecting gas supply at local level. They said that another attempt of gas explosion was avert when police found an explosive material fixed near a pipeline. Over one dozen suspects were also arrested in Sui and Dera Bugti but police declined to confirm it. Meanwhile, a self claimed spokesman of a banned militant organisation Baloch Republican Army Sarbaz Baloch claimed the responsibility of the all these attacks on telephone.
Moreover two electricity pylons were destroyed in Mangoli area of Dera Bugti suspending (power supply) at local level. Another banned militant organisation BLA claimed the responsibility of this attack.
Unknown people have fired two rockets at Frontier Corps camp in Kohlu but no casualty was reported. Similarly local people in Kahan said that the security forces in a retaliatory move attacked a village situated at the border of Kahan and Bekar area of Dera Bugti. They said that seven people including a child and two women were killed in the attack. Officially this claim was not confirmed.
Local people said that the retaliatory move was initiated after unidentified people attacked a vehicle of Pakistan Muslim league (Q) candidate at PB 24 Dera Bugti Tariq Masuri in Bekar area. Two people including a cousin of Tariq Masuri were killed and five were injured in a blast. Police stated that it was a land mine where as BRA spokesman claimed that the vehicle was blown with a remote control device.
Various telephone calls were received here where Baloch tribesmen specially Mari tribesmen said that they have performed the Sunah but did not celebrated the eid due to Balach Mari and Nawab Akbar Bugti's killing. Baloch Students Organisation (BSO) Azad group observed token hunger strike in front of Quetta press club and protest rallies were brought in Khuzdar on Eid day.
