QUETTA: The skyrocketing prices of flour due to irregular supply to retail outlets in Balochistan are creating problems for the local population.
The 20kg bag is touching Rs 500 mark in the province. It is important to note that government had fixed the price at Rs 260.Traders blamed the price hike for the shortage.
The interim Chief Minister Sardar Mohammad Saleh Bhootani took serious notice of the price rise and directed the Food Secretary and district coordination officers to take action against hoarders, profiteers and other elements responsible for the flour crisis.
According to BBC, the authorities, in spite of the CM orders have not taken action against the hoarders.
The government claimed that wheat was not coming to the province due to the riots across the country.
The Food Department said that the government had established 30 fair price shops in the city to facilitate the consumers.
