QUETTA: Balochistan Inspector General of Police Saud Gohar said Monday terrorist and sabotage activities had increased by 19 per cent in the province during last year killing 180 people in 540 incidents.
It was his first press conference after assuming the charge of the office, he said number other crimes were also increased in 2007 where as arms and ammunition recovery campaign remained successful in the province.
Major terrorist incidents reported in 2007 were suicidal attack in district courts Quetta killing 16 people including a senior judge and 8 lawyers. Similarly three Chinese engineers were killed in Hub city and about 8 policemen were killed in other incidents in Hub city when a Chinese convoy was targeted. Attacks on security forces continued in Dera Bugti and Kohlu districts.
