JWP calls for end to operation

17.03.2008

By Amanullah Kasi

QUETTA, March 16: The women’s wing of the Jamhoori Watan Party held a demonstration here on Sunday demanding end to military operation in Balochistan, release of political workers and recovery of missing persons.

The protesters assembled outside the press club and chanted slogans in favour of their demands.

Addressing on the occasion, the provincial president of the women’s wing Rubina Shah accused the government of pursuing a policy of discrimination against the Baloch people. She said that an Indian spy had been released but innocent political activists were being kept behind bars in violation of law for many years.

She criticised what she called occupation of property of Nawab Akbar Bugti by the government, adding that the government could have never deprived the legal heirs of their right to the property had the judiciary been independent.

She said that government’s excesses could not suppress the political movement which enjoyed support of the people. Ms Shah demanded that FIR be registered against ‘the killers’ of Nawab Bugti.
