Sui authorities should restore gas supply: LCCI
LAHORE: Sui Gas authorities should immediately restore the supply of gas to the industrial units as their unwarranted and unjustified action is causing unrest among the business circles.
This was demanded by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Acting President Mian Muzaffar Ali on Tuesday, while expressing his dismay and shock over the sudden cut off gas supply to a number of industrial units in Kot Lakhpat, Ferozepur Road Industrial area on the pretext of revision of security deposit.
In a statement the LCCI acting president said the LCCI had received a number of complaints that Sui Gas authorities have disconnected their gas connections without proper intimation to them. He said this action was followed by a computer-generated letter regarding revision of security deposit even to such units, which do not fall in that category.
Citing one of such complaints, the Mr Ali said M/s Crystalline, Ampoule Works (Pvt) Limited, was issued a computer-generated letter saying your average monthly gas bill amount is more than your gas supply security deposit for 90 days so you are asked to deposit more money as security deposit. The M/s Crystalline was astonished to receive the letter that was quite contrary to the facts as their average bill was well within the security deposit submitted by the company. M/s Crystaline were looking into the matter when their gas supply was cut off in a most humiliating manner.
He said it seems that some elements are hell bent to fail the new government’s policies therefore the Chief Minister Sadder Dost Mohammad Khosa should look into the matter and ensure relief to the aggrieved industrial units. staff report
