QUETTA: At least two people were killed and about 50 were arrested during a search operation of the security forces at Lanju Sughari area of the Sui in Dera Bugti district early on Saturday.
According to local people, the Frontier Corp from the Dera Bugti and Rangers from Sindh took part in the operation and have arrested at least 50 people. They said that two real brothers were killed during the operation.
Jamhoori Watan Party leader Sher Muhammad said that the two brothers Aaqil Bugti and Nasir Bugti were picked from the area and were shot dead in firing range area. Muhammad said that three Bugti shepherds were killed few days back and later their bodies were put on fire.
The people in Sui said that the bodies were brought to the police station and pieces of bread were found from their pockets. They said that two trucks full of people passed from the Sui Bazar at about noon. They pointed out that people were taken to Dera Bugti. Jamil Akbar Bugti, son of late Nawab Akbar Bugti, told this scribe on telephone that heavy contingents of the security forces have raided the villages in Sui situated at the border of Dera Bugti and Jaferabad districts. He said that people were picked and bodes were taken to the Dera Bugti.
Bugti said that there were many casualties as people seen bodies but the actual number of casualties was not found. The federal government on one side announced that the military operation was stopped whereas on the other side such massive activities were started against tribesmen, he said.
Jamhoori Watan Party (Bramdagh) leader Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti have told that four Bugti tribesmen were killed and several others injured in a fresh military operation in different areas of Dera Bugti on Saturday.
In a statement issued here, he alleged that security forces targeted innocent people and humiliated women during the operation. The military actions negated the government’s claim that it had stopped the military operation.
Mr Jamil said that on the one hand, the government was giving the impression that the reconciliation was under way, but on the other, security forces launched a fresh operation on Saturday in which four people were killed and many others suffered injuries.
Condemning the operation, the JWP leader said that the excesses could not force the Baloch to give up their “just struggle against usurpers”.
It's worth mentioning here that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfikar Magsi and Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raeesani were briefed by the military high-ups regarding the Balochistan operation. The government has not yet stated anything about the operation.
He said that the JWP and other Baloch political parties would not abandon the struggle for their national rights, adding that hundreds of Balochs, including Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and Nawabzada Balaach Marri, had sacrificed their lives for the rights of the oppressed.
Mr Jamil reiterated that his party would not hold talks with the government until the military operation stopped, troops were sent back to barracks, displaced people were rehabilitated, missing persons were traced, the cantonment in Sui was dismantled and political workers released. |
