* Talal Bugti credits son’s release to Raisani and BNP-Awami
QUETTA: Shah Zain Bugti, the grandson of Nawab Akbar Bugti who was released in Bolan on Friday, said he had been questioned about links with Indian and US secret agencies, and the Afghan government, during his time in prison.
Talking to Dawn News after reaching Bugti House in Quetta, he said he had been moved to the district jail in Dera Murad Jamali when investigating agencies failed to prove his connection with the Indian spy agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), and the Afghan government.
He credited his release to the Balochistan government, saying he had been arrested under fake charges. He said the military operation had not stopped in Dera Bugti, and that talks with Baloch separatists would not be successful unless the government withdrew troops from Dera Bugti, Kohlu and other areas of the province.
Earlier, a huge convoy of tribesmen brought Bugti from the Mach jail to Bugti House in Quetta.
Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zafarullah Zehri, who received Bugti at the jail, told a press conference that the new government had fulfilled its promise of releasing all political prisoners.
During the previous government, he added, the citizens had been mistreated and denied their basic rights.
Credit: Bugti’s father, Nawabzada Talal Akbar, credited the release of his son to Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Muhamamd Aslam Raisani and the leadership of the Balochistan National Party-Awami.
He said Bugti’s release was the victory of democracy. “My father (Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti) sacrificed his life fighting dictatorship. We will not hesitate from rendering such sacrifices,” he said. staff report/daily times monitor
