Mengal ready for negotiations on issues confronting Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: Former Balochistan chief minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal on Wednesday expressed his willingness to hold negotiations with the government, aimed at ensuring peace and tranquility in Balochistan.

Talking to Geo News, the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNM-M) chief asked the government to take certain steps before starting formal talks in order to restore the confidence of the Balochs.

He said measures such as the termination of operations in the province, rehabilitation of displaced people and locating around 1,100 missing persons in the province could prove vital for creating a viable atmosphere for talks Expressing hope for peace and progress of the province, he said the behaviour of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) towards the Balochs was very positive as compared to the previous governments. "PPP looks serious in its endeavours to address the problems of Balochs and bring them into the mainstream." he added
