QUETTA: Balochistan Inspector General of Police Saood Gohar Saturday said the government may redeploy the Frontier Corps (FC) troops in the provincial capital in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the city.
Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani has decided to redeploy the Frontier Constabulary at sensitive points and increase patrolling of Anti-Terrorist Force and other law enforcement agencies in the city.
Talking to APP after the provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raeesani here, he said all members of the cabinet have agreed upon seeking the FC assistance to maintain law and order. The law and order was deteriorating after they lifted their pickets and stopped patrolling in the city, following the present government started reconciliation process in the province, he added.
He, however, said such incidents had occurred even when FC were assisting the civil departments in ensuring peace in the province. Referring to involvement of defunct Balochistan Liberation Army-BLA in killings of the innocent civilians, he said it is premature to hold BLA responsible for the killings as police could not find any clue in this regard.
He, however, said strenuous efforts are being made to expose the elements behind these heinous crimes and bring them to justice. He said the police had detained several suspects from parts of the province who are being interrogated.
Shutter-down strike observed against youths' killing: A shutter down strike was observed on the appeal of Balochistan Traders Union and some political parties in the provincial metropolis on Saturday against the killing of five youths at Jinnah Town the other day.
The main shopping and business centres of the city remained closed and a thin traffic was seen on the city roads.
As a precautionary measure, the city nazim announced the closure of all government and privately-managed educational institutions. Due to absence of the local transport lesser number of the government employees was able to attend their offices.
