Balochistan: Jhal Magsi, other areas flood situation worsening

06.08.2008

JAFFERABAD: Flood situation in Jhal Magsi and other areas worsening, as the flooding water level continued rising and inundating more and more areas.

Talking to Geo News, Flood Coordinator, Nasrullah Rind said that the onrushing floodwater has washed away a segment of the road Jahal Magsi-Hathiari and Gandhawa-Jhal Magsi stretching one and a half kilometer, severing land routes of these areas to the outside world. He said that all the required machineries for the repair and re-construction of the damaged road have arrived here and the work would be started in the next 24 hours. He said that the water flow at 1,85,000 cusecs at Nari bank was on the increase inundating scores of areas of district Bolan. Balochistan’s five districts Jhal Magsi, Sibi, Jafferabad, Naseerabad and Bolan have been put under emergency, while the residents of scores of villages along with the Nari bank have been put on notice for evacuating the areas.
