QUETTA: BLA fighters gunned down a constable of the Balochistan Constabulary (BC) in Quetta, police said on Saturday. It said armed motorcyclists killed Constable Zahoor Ahmed on Samungali Road by opening indiscriminate fire on him. Ahmed was on duty outside the office of the inspector general jails when six bullets were fired at him. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), an organisation claiming to be fighting for the 'independence of Balochistan', accepted responsibility for Ahmed's murder. Spokesman Bibarg Baloch told Daily Times that BLA would intensify its attacks in the wake of the 61st anniversary of Pakistan's independence. He warned that BLA men would target the shopkeepers and stall owners who would sell Pakistan's flag, badges or anything related to the celebrations. |
