QUETTA: Pakistan's 61st Independence Day was observed in Balochistan with unprecedented pessimism on Thursday as Governor Zulfiqar Magsi announced his intention to quit his office due to the unabated violence in the province, which killed six people on August 14.
The day was observed in the province with simplicity and amid fear. Various armed Baloch groups had threatened attacks targeting Independence Day celebrations. Therefore, most educational institutions did not arrange any celebration on the occasion.
