ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday assured the Balochistan government that it would be consulted on the $7.6 billion Iran Pakistan India (IPI) gas pipeline project.
Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani chaired a meeting at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, which was attended by Balochistan Finance Minister Mir Aslam Kurd, Balochistan Chief Secretary Nasir Mohammad Khosa, Acting Petroleum Secretary GA Sabri, and other officials of the ministry.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the IPI gas pipeline project and discussed the exploration of oil and gas in Balochistan.
After reviewing details of security issues regarding exploration licenses in various areas of Balochistan, Raisani said there was no law and order issue in the mentioned areas, adding that the government of Balochistan would provide complete security to the companies undertaking such activities.He sanctioned a number of areas for initiating exploration and advised the chief secretary to convene a meeting with the operating companies on August 22 to address hindrances.
