ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has failed to award scholarships to PhD students in Balochistan over the last three years. Only 8 PhD scholarships were awarded to the students during this period.
According to details, HEC has been allotted 2837 acres of land worth billions of rupees free of cost. The HEC was allotted 130 acres of land in DHA phase-7, 400 acres in Mureedkay, 215 acres in Islamabad, 450 near National Highway Karachi, 450 and 137 acres in National Highway Karachi, 605 acres in Simbrial, Sialkot and 450 acres on National Highway, Karachi, for the construction of 7 national universities while the decision regarding allocation of land for two more universities is pending.
It was informed during Question Hour in the National Assembly that no scholarship has been awarded to a Balochistan's student since 2006.
