25 tribesmen, 3 FC personnel killed

QUETTA, Sept 28: At least 25 tribesmen and three Frontier Corps personnel were killed in two days of fighting in Gundoai area of Dera Bugti district.

Sources said rocket launchers, mortars and heavy machine-guns were used in the fighting which had begun on Saturday and continued till Sunday afternoon.

“We have information that 25 militants have been killed in two days of fighting,” a security official said.

He said three FC men had been killed and a dozen others injured. He said the injured personnel had been brought to the Combined Military Hospital in the provincial capital.“Gundoai area has been cleared,” official sources said, adding that a huge quantity of arms and ammunition were seized from two camps of militants which had been destroyed.

They said the militants had fled from the area.

A spokesman for the Baloch Republican Army claimed that more than two dozen security personnel had been killed by the militants.

A spokesman for the FC said all necessary steps would be taken to protect national installations.
