QUETTA: Balochistan high court single bench headed by Chief Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai exonerated Ali Ahmed Kurd president of SCBA, Habib Jalib Baloch secretary general of BNP-Mengal and five others from the charges of treason.
The court on Tuesday accepted the submissions of the petitioners and ordered the concerned quarters to quash the treason charges levelled in FIRs filed by three different police stations of the city.
The Saddar police station, Civil lines police station and new Sariab police station had on August 30, 2006, filed FIRs against Ali Ahmed Kurd, Habib Jalib Baloch, Akhtar Hussain Lango, Razzak Longo, Ghulam Nabi Marri of BNP-M, Khalid Lango of National Party and Sohail Rajput of Jamhoori Watan Party under sections 123-A,148,149, 341, 353, and 436 PPC.
The police charges were that the nominated persons after the funeral prayers of Nawab Akbar Bugti on August 29 made objectionable speeches against the state and incited people against the government.
Three separate petitions were filed in the court praying to quash the charges against them in the FIRs.
